02/15/2010 One must be aware of the danger of pressure cracks that occur as the ice thickens, expands

and plates move together pushing upwards. A recents snowmobile fatality in North Bay has been

attributed to the snowmobiler hitting one of these during bad light conditions.

Strong winds in Dec. and Jan. took down many trees around cottages. February 15, 2010

Jan. 23 and we discover that Gary De La Chevrotiere (Is. 660) created the skating rink

at Narrows Island first seen from the air two days ago

Travelling is good on Jan. 22 - call ahead to be sure about your part of the lake

Rom Miller flies again on Jan.12  - top north of Seal Rock Point open water awaits a cold night.

Below new ice next to Rabbitnose is checked by Robb Huff and Tom Mathias - 3 inches - not enough to encourage travel yet.

Jan. 7 - the winds continue preventing total freeze up.

that travel conditions remain unsafe

keeping the lake open.

Other places probably have lots of snow but little ice thickness.  Lake Nipissing to the south

has good ice - compare the white colour of two lakes to see that Lake Temagami ice is still quite thin.

 

On Boxing day the temperatures are rising, ice is not so secure and fog lifts

By Dec. 22 residents are snowmobiling to the landing from the Hub areas.

March brings sunshine to the North Arm
